Dr. Dominic Orr

Dominic is a British national, who has a doctorate in comparative education from the Technical University of Dresden. For over a decade he worked for the German Centre for Higher Education and Science Studies (DZHW) as senior researcher and international project leader on higher education governance and conditions of student life (project EUROSTUDENT). Currently he is senior researcher at FiBS-Research Institute for the Economics of Education and Social Affairs in Berlin, where he is, inter alia, leading a new study for the German government on the shape of higher education in 2030.

Peter van der Hijden

Peter is an independent higher education expert of Dutch nationality living in Brussels. He studied law and worked at Maastricht University before joining the European Commission. Former Head of Sector Higher Education Policy, Peter helped to build the Erasmus programme, the European Higher Education Area (Bologna Process) and the EU Modernisation Agenda for Higher Education. He also contributed to Horizon 2020 and the European Research Area (ERA). Peter currently acts as board member, advisor and moderator for public authorities, non-governmental organisations, companies, universities and networks.

Florian Rampelt

Florian is an open and quality education enthusiast working on new pathways to a more impactful digitalization and internationalization of higher education with a focus on the European Higher Education Area. He is currently working as a program manager at Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft for the German Forum for Higher Education in the Digital Age. As a centre of innovation and competence, Hochschulforum Digitalisierung informs, advises and connects higher education institutions and policy makers on the path towards education in the digital age. After graduating in political science and education sciences, Florian was a research assistant in teacher education at University of Passau from 2015 to 2016. Until April 2018 he worked as Director of Education at Kiron Open Higher Education, leading several teams and projects on innovative, digital solutions to higher education for refugees. Florian also has been involved in the evaluation and accreditation of study programs in the European Higher Education Area for several years.

Ronny Röwert

Ronny is an expert on the development of higher education institutions, with special emphasis on questions of strategies for the digital age. He studied economics and political science at the University of Kiel, University of Auckland and University of Freiburg before joining the higher education research and consultancy company CHE Consult. He directed the working group “Change Management and Organizational Development” in the German Forum for Higher Education in the Digital Age. Most recently, he was responsible for Academic Relations at Kiron Open Higher Education, enabling access to higher education and successful learning for refugees through digital solutions, followed by a current sabbatical break.

Dr. Renata Suter

Renata is Head of Research at Kiron Open Higher Education, a nonprofit EdTech organization that provides access to higher education for refugees through innovative digital solutions and strategic collaborations with universities and online education providers. She is leading a team working on several research and development projects on study success in digital study environments as well as digitalization and internationalization of higher education. She holds a PhD in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Basel, Switzerland and worked as a researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development in Berlin.
